For me, planning a trip is as much fun as the actual trip. I absolutely love picking out destinations and researching what is nearby to create a full-blown adventure. Here are some of my favorite trip planning tips.
- Look at the calendar – A lot of times, I plan my trips based on when festivals, fairs or other special events are scheduled. Or if you already have a location in mind, check out the local events calendar to see what else is going on in the area when you plan to visit. You might as well get the most out of every location!
- Checkout the exits – If you are taking a road trip, it is nice to know where good places are to take breaks. Iexitapp is my go-to website for looking up what is available at each exit along my route. You can find your favorite restaurants, where you should stop for the night, or exits with fun shops and/or roadside attractions. I enjoy taking the time to look at what each exit along the way has to offer. You could also limit your search to certain mile markers or a halfway point if you prefer.
- Find a haunt! – A quick Google search can help you find haunted locations and lore by location, but here are some of my favorite websites.
- Ohio Exploration.com – paranormal – Find haunted locations and lore by county
- Ohio.org – Haunted Ohio – 24 must visit haunted places in Ohio
- National Archives – America’s Most Haunted
- Ghostsandgravestones.com – Most haunted places in America
- Find a hike! – I have said it many times on this blog, but I am a huge fan of AllTrails.com. They do not sponsor me (although I am open to that! AllTrails give me a call!). Just type in your destination and AllTrails will give you a list of wonderful hikes wherever you happen to find yourself.
I may be over the top, but I like to have my full itinerary available at a glance. That way I can cross each stop off, like a checklist as I complete them. I may be alone in this, but I find that very satisfying. Here is the template/example of what I use just in case you are as goal focused as I tend to be.
I hope this helps you to plan your perfect adventure. Please let me know what you think, and please share your tips as well!
